History

Ishak Pasha Palace, one of the most important architectural works of art in Eastern Anatolia region located in Doğubayazıt in Ağrı bordering Iran, has a striking appearance with its commanding position in the plain, and it overlooks the historical Silk Road. Now, as in the past, it is the most significant Ottoman work of art in the region. The Palace, which was constructed during the time of sanjak Beyazıt of Çıldıroğlu clan and whose construction was finalized in 1784, has a mixed style of stone decoration as the outcome of the interaction between Eastern Anatolia and the geography around as well as the impacts of the Tulip era in İstanbul. The Palace is a unique example of Anatolian palace architecture.
